Global Sudanese Refugee Community

Our Journey

The evolution of the Global Sudanese Refugee Community (GSRC) from 2013 to present.

2013

The Foundation

Founded by Idris Adam Salih and a group of committed members. Early meetings were held informally outside mosques and in home compounds to address the urgent needs of Sudanese and South Sudanese refugees.

Early Days

Breaking Barriers

Recognizing language as the first hurdle, we launched basic English classes. This marked the beginning of our community-based approach to integration and self-reliance.

2015

Vocational Skills

Received three Singer-type tailoring machines from well-wishers. This small gift allowed us to launch tailoring programs that provided practical, income-generating skills.

Growth

Expanding Horizons

Formed vital partnerships with NRC, JRS, and OPM. We introduced adult literacy, psychosocial support, computer training, and early childhood development programs.

2018

A Central Hub

Reached a milestone by renting our first official premises. This transition from informal meetings to a structured institution allowed for dedicated training units and soap production labs.

Today

Fostering Resilience

GSRC remains committed to empowering refugees and host communities through education, skills, and peaceful coexistence.
